Many of our certified Waterproofers are tilers and some are builders who can do a wide range of renovations, building and repair work. This includes bathrooms, kitchens, and decks or any other property maintenance that may be required

Why would I need a Water Proofer for my tiling project?
Tiled surfaces are not always water proof. This is especially so in wet areas such as bathrooms or floors where water may pool. Water travelling through tiles, will over time substantially damage timber floors. The water can also travel under the tiles and damage timber walls.
To prevent this you require a waterproof membrane under the tiles. This is a requirement under the building code. This should be done by a Certified Water Proofer who should sign off on a producer statement.

Producer Statements
Producer Statements are required by councils to fulfil their obligations to the NZ building code. They are part of the consent process.
Even if a renovation does not require a consent, a Producer Statement is always a good option for future prospective purchasers and insurance purposes. It will also provide you with peace of mind.

Producer Statements are issued by Certified Waterproofers. Certified Waterproofers are trained in the use of water proofing products
Choosing a certified Waterproofer for your tiling work

3.1 Lining materials
3.1.1 Floors
The following linings and finishes to floors satisfy the performance for impervious and easily cleaned surfaces in areas exposed to watersplash:
b) Ceramic or stone tiles having 6% maximum water absorption, waterproof grouted joints, and bedded with an adhesive specified by the tile manufacturer as being suitable for the tiles, substrate material and the environment of use.
